GLITTER. SPARKLE. SHINE. This Season’s HOTTEST Trend; Just In Time For *NYE*

Hello, Beauties!

The Holidays always bring out the “sparkle” in all of us. From glittering lights to sparkling wines and champagne, there is something in the air that makes us want to shine. That’s why golds, reds, and silvers are so popular during the Winter Season. There’s just something about those colors that make it feel like The Holidays. Even Victoria’s Secret focused on “Sparkle, Shine, etc.” in their latest Holiday Campaign and Catalogue. And even though the magic of the Holidays is coming to a close, there is one little, extremely exciting night that we wait ALL year for; Three words; New Years Eve. So put on your new dress, sky high heels, favorite red lipstick, and get ready to SPARKLE. Because you want to start The New Year off right, and what better make up look on New Years Eve, aside from GLITTER and SHINE, is there?

I think with the recent trend of “Glow Kits” and “Highlighters”, everyone is pretty used to using Glitter at least in one aspect of your beauty routine. But if you haven’t given in to the trend (yet) don’t think “Glitter”, and end up focusing on those cheap, plastic jars of “Body Glitter Gel”, that you’d use in the late 90’s; (which, BTW, the “gel” was almost identical to hand sanitizer, so that’s why your skin was ALWAYS dry after using it). That’s NOT the glitter I’m talking about. I’m talking about serious SPARKLE. Think M.A.C “Pigment” Sparkle. Think “Mermaid” Sparkle. Think “Unicorn” Sparkle. Not thick pieces of glitter…. I’m talking finely ground SHIMMER. And that shimmer, goes hand in hand with with today’s hottest beauty trend… So what are the best products to help you, Glitter, Sparkle, and Shine? Here are some of my absolute FAVORITE products that can be used for a subtle shine, a glamorous glimmer, and some SERIOUS Strobe n’ Highlight action!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits & Illuminators:

Now I know that I’ve posted about strobing and highlighting before. And I also know that I’ve talked about ABH’s Glow Kits before. BUT I can’t mention glow, glimmer, sparkle, or shine without having ABH’s Glow Kits come to mind! Anastasia Beverly Hills came on to the Beauty Scene with a BANG. Offering some of the best products in the industry for gorgeous, tamed, and perfect eyebrows, Beauty Buff’s EVERYWHERE rejoiced. With GORGEOUS eyeshadow palettes, to amazing liquid lipsticks and matte lipsticks, it wasn’t a surprise to absolutely fall in love with their Glow Kits!

You may remember ABH’s Glow Kits like, “Gleam”, “That Glow”, “The Ultimate Glow Kit”, and “Nicole Guerrerio’s (a famous Social Media MUA/Beauty Blogger) Special Edition Glow Kit”, as of right now, ABH has discontinued those Glow Kits, (bummer, I know) at least for now. HOPEFULLY, they will bring back those AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS Glow Kits, or release new Glow Kits, that are extremely similar!

Urban Decay NAKED Illuminated:

Shades: Lit, Luminous, Fireball, & Aura

Urban Decay has added another classic to their long list of AWESOME products! AND it’s from none other than their BESTSELLING “Naked” line! These highlighters produce a fine shimmer, that can be used on your face AS WELL as your body. Offering 4 different shades, you are guaranteed to find one you love. You can also layer this highlighter for an obvious sparkle, or just use a bit for a subtle shimmer. It comes with it’s own thin, small Kabuki brush, but a large powder brush will work better for your body, or a medium powder brush will work great for your face. The small brush that’s included works; I just don’t suggest using the same brush for your body and face, together. From “Fireball” which is a pinky nude sparkle, to “Aura” which is a light nude sparkle, to “Lit” which is a golden bronze sparkle, as well as “Luminous”, which is your basic light nude highlighting/strobing shade; ALL shade are gorgeous and go well with any skin tone. It’s also quite a large amount of product in a little package, and since the pigment is fairly good, the illuminator WILL last you a while, (or at least the entire Winter/Sparkle Season), and then well into the Summer-y Glow/Bronze Season! These “Illuminators” are PERFECT for a glittery, glamorous, absolutely fabulous, night on the town, as we say “GOODBYE” to 2017, and ring in The New Year of 2018!

Charlotte Tilbury BAR OF GOLD Highlighter:

Charlotte Tilbury is a celebrity makeup artist, who started getting requests for her custom made, back stage, “Magic Cream” that she would use on celebrities and models. She also would custom mix lipsticks for different celebrities. While getting so many requests for her custom mixes, she decided she could market her products and make a killing. And THANK THE MAKEUP GODDESSES that she did, because her products are AMAZING. From her K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipsticks in “Kim KW”, and “Penelope Pink”, to her “Cheek to Chic Swish n’ Pop” Blushes; you WILL fall in love with her products and they are definitely worth the price.

Charlotte Tilbury’s “Bar of Gold”.

That brings us to her “Bar of Gold” Universal Highlighter. Packaged in a pretty pink box, the “Bar of Gold” is shaped exactly like a (you guessed it), 24 Karat Gold Bar. It comes in ONE universal shade, which is GOLD, and will likely last you, AT LEAST a year. The highlighter is highly pigmented and the amount of product you get is INSANE. One swipe of this product, will leave you with a super fine shimmer, that can be used as a highlighter or body shimmer. It’s so pigmented that you could even use it as an eyeshadow (but remember; eyes are sensitive, and you don’t want to use the same product that you’ve used on your body, on your eyes). I give “Bar of Gold” 5 stars for packaging, product amount, and pigment. And if $42 sounds a little steep for a highlighter that’s ONE shade, just remember how much product you actually get for $42. In the end, it’s worth the splurge!

Laura Geller “Baked Gelato Swirl”:

Laura Geller has been continuing to impress me. Especially (lately), with her line of “Baked” foundations, powders, highlighters, bronzers, and illuminators. I’ve always been attracted to products that are “baked” on a terra-cotta brick. From Physician’s Formula “Baked Bronzing Powders” to Lorac’s “Porefection Powder” which is baked on a terra cotta brick, to M.A.C’s Mineralize Skinfinishes which are baked as well, I always find that these products produce a FLAWLESS FINISH. And they are worth their weight in gold. Seriously.

“Baked Gelato Swirl” by Laura Geller $26

Laura Geller’s “Baked Gelato Swirl” Illuminators are no different. They provide a highly pigmented shimmer, when applied to your face on the correct highlighter locations. The sparkle comes off as a sheer, but pigment packed glimmer. It’s easy to blend and can be layered on for intensity. They are packaged in a sturdy plastic compact, and the product is adorably sweet, as it comes “swirled” just like a cup of (you guessed it), GELATO.

The “Baked Gelato Swirls” come in 4 different shades; as well as a “Special Edition” Holiday Shade, specifically for The Holidays:

  • Ballerina
  • Gilded Honey
  • Charming Pink
  • Peach Glow
  • Special Edition Shade – Diamond Dust Illuminator

So, my beauties, whichever glittery glow or subtle sparkle you decide to rock this NYE, just remember; NYE is a time for GLAMOUR. Unicorns and Mermaids are welcome (at least their shimmering, glittering, gorgeous-ness)! So put on a sparkling cocktail dress, apply your favorite red lipstick, strap on your sky high heels, AND…..don’t be afraid to SPARKLE! I’ll see you in 2018!

Have an ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS (and safe) New Years Eve, beauties!
